Editorial policy
kpopquiz.org publishes K-pop quizzes written by fans, and a few pages written by the site itself. This page says who creates what, how quizzes are moderated, which sources our facts come from, how we label K-pop generations, how we use AI, and how we correct mistakes. It is maintained by Louis, the founder.
Who creates the content?
Fans write the quizzes. Anyone with an account can create one, and the creator's name is shown on it. A few accounts are labelled Team: they publish quizzes and articles for the site, only through an editorial review, and they never post in community spaces as if they were fans. Articles and data pages carry the name of their author.
How are quizzes moderated?
Any player can report a quiz. A quiz is hidden from the site when 5 different signed-in accounts have reported it, and it stays hidden until it is reviewed. Pictures uploaded with a quiz are queued for a human review. We remove quizzes that break these rules; we do not rewrite a creator's questions.
Which sources do facts come from?
A fact on an indexable page needs a source, and the source link sits next to the fact. The sources we rely on are official group and label sites and their verified accounts, Wikidata, MusicBrainz and Wikipedia, with Circle Chart and Billboard for charts. News sites such as Soompi and allkpop are leads that we confirm elsewhere. Fan databases such as kprofiles and Fandom wikis are not sources: we never copy or cite them. Key facts (members, debut date, label, fandom name) need two sources that agree; when they do not, we write a less precise sentence that is true.
How do we label K-pop generations?
A generation number is shown only when it is not disputed. When a named, reliable source describes a group as a given generation, we say so and credit it, for example "commonly described as 5th generation" with the source. When the label is debated, we say that it is debated, or call the group part of the newest wave. Every page reads the same data, so the site does not contradict itself.
How do we use AI?
AI tools can help draft articles and suggest quiz ideas. A person reviews and edits every draft before it is published. AI never supplies our numbers: counts of quizzes, songs, plays and scores come from the site's own records, rounded down so that a "450+" is always true.
What do we never publish?
Nothing about the private lives of artists: no dating, health, family or rumors. For members who are minors, only their stage name and role. No song lyrics. No invented play counts, reviews or players.
Which images do we use?
Official assets, images under a Creative Commons licence with the credit shown, and our own visuals. Images uploaded by fans are reviewed. To ask for an image to be removed, write to contact@kpopquiz.org.
Corrections
When we find or are told about a mistake, we fix it and log it here with the date. To report one, write to contact@kpopquiz.org.
- 2026-10-14 · BTS trivia: Removed a fact that tied the 2018 UN speech to the Love Myself campaign (it launched UNICEF Generation Unlimited), facts without a subject, and unsourced fan items. Dynamite topped the Billboard Hot 100 dated September 5, 2020, not August 22. Epiphany was a comeback trailer, not the intro track.
- 2026-10-14 · General K-pop trivia: TWICE has five Korean members, not six. Jennie is also Korean-born, not only Jisoo. Jackson Wang joined JYP, not SM. Minnie is the only Thai member of (G)I-DLE. Out-of-date and wrong items (labels, Grammy and chart firsts, Coachella, debut dates, member counts) and items about health or legal matters were removed. The page is kept out of search results until every fact is verified.
- 2026-10-14 · Group hubs: Removed the "What label is the group on?" answer: our label data mixed Korean labels with US distribution partners (it said BTS is on Columbia Records; BTS is a BIGHIT MUSIC artist). It returns when the data is sourced.
- 2026-10-14 · K-pop generations explained: Four generations are widely recognized; the 5th generation is now credited to the sources that use it, and noted as unofficial. Group counts that did not match the tables were removed.
- 2026-10-14 · K-pop quiz sites comparison: The page now says first that we run kpopquiz.org and compares sites on criteria instead of ranking them. QuizUp (offline since March 2021) and Kpop-Quiz.com (its domain no longer resolves) were removed.
- 2026-10-14 · Group hubs: The number of songs in each group blind test came from an outdated table (BTS showed 28, the game plays 20; Stray Kids showed 14, the game plays 21). Hubs now count the songs the game really plays.
- 2026-10-14 · Blind test: The page said "300+ songs across 60+ groups". The counts now come from the catalogue itself (more than 4,200 songs across more than 80 groups on this date).
- 2026-10-14 · Home, quiz list, about page: Counts typed into the copy had gone stale ("380+ quizzes", "42k+ plays", "30+ groups"). Every count now comes from one live source and is rounded down. A "3k+ fans every week" figure that nothing measured was removed.
- 2026-10-13 · Group hubs: Quiz counts in titles and FAQs included drafts and removed quizzes (BTS showed 31). They now count published quizzes only.
